Giving To Others!

Thank you
Last spring, as part of our Cultural Enrichment theme of Sharing Stories, we sent a donation of books with our ELL teacher Roger Drost to Nicaragua. Please see a message from him below!

Greetings,
I am pleased to let you know that the books donated by Cutler were very enthusiastically received by the teacher, Ruben Alvarez, in the little one-room village schoolhouse of Anglo America, Nicaragua. Furthermore, the children who were lingering around the school house on the day we delivered the books were so excited that they grabbed the books immediately, sat down and began to read them with rapt attention (see photos). Even some of the young men in the village who were resting in the shade of the schoolhouse could not resist diving into some of the books themselves. We also provided the teacher with materials to create a lending library (cards with pockets to put in each book and a date stamp) and gave a brief tutorial on how to organize and manage a lending library.

Peace and Hope Frontier Mission, the village school at Anglo American and I are exceedingly grateful for your donation of Spanish books and for the excellent and engaging publications you and the students selected for the school. They were superb choices which, I have no doubt, will inspire those children deep in the jungles of Nicaragua to read and embrace their education while exciting their curiosity about the world.

Thank you so much for this generous gift and the care you have shown for the poor village children whom you have never met. Please savor the attached photos, which I think capture the powerful impact your gift has made.

Blessings and thanks!

Roger Drost
Communication and Education Coordinator
