Family Presentation-Tuesday, March 10th-7:00pm

Zones of Regulation
Cutler School is implementing new curriculum titled, The Zones of Regulation. The program has been introduced to all kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms by our occupational therapist, Nancy Perkus. It is described by the author Leah Kuypers as, “...a systematic, cognitive approach used to teach self regulation by categorizing all the different ways we feel and states of alertness into four concrete zones.  The Zone curriculum provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of, and independent in, controlling their emotions and impulses, managing their sensory needs, and improving their ability to solve conflicts.”  The students are learning a life skill to manage their emotions in appropriate ways.  The Zones program can be used at home and in school.

Please check out the Zones of Regulation program. An informational email attachment is also being sent home today. Parents are welcome to attend an informational session on Tuesday, March 10 at 7pm, led by Nancy Perkus. Please fill out the form sent home as an attachment today if you are interested in attending.
