Cutler students continued their exploration of STEAM on October 29th, Big Read Day. Classes read The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba. The story follows William, an African boy who at the age of 14 uses a few science books and some recycled materials to change how the people of his drought-plagued village live. Buddy classes learned about William’s environment and the challenges he faced. Keep the learning going at home! The children met with their buddies and discussed the book and worked together to design and build paper windmills. Please let me know if you would like to borrow the class copy of The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind to read and discuss as a family.
